چکیده

A block-structured adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) method is applied to the problem of computing acoustic radiation from an aeroengine intake. The aim is to improve the efficiency of the computation through reduction of computational cells. A parallel implementation of the adaptive mesh refinement algorithm is achieved using message passing interface. It combines a range of 2and 4-order spatial stencils, a 4-order low-dissipation and low-dispersion Runge-Kutta scheme for time integration and several different interpolation methods. To solve the problem of acoustic radiation from an aeroengine intake, the code is extended to support body-fitted grid structures. The problem of acoustic radiation is solved with linearised Euler equations. The results demonstrate the efficiency of the current adaptive mesh refinement algorithm.

Efficient Computation of Spinning Modal Radiation Through an Engine Bypass Duct

The aim of this work is to accurately and efficiently predict sound radiation out of a duct with flow. The sound propagation inside a generic engine bypass duct, refractions by the shear layer of the exhaust flow, and propagation in the near field are the main focus of the study. The prediction uses either a modified form of linearized Euler equations or an alternative model based on acoustic p...

Applications of Local Adaptive Mesh Refinement Scheme for Engine Spray Simulations

The accurate prediction of fuel sprays is critical to engine combustion and emissions simulations. A fine computational mesh is often required to better resolve fuel spray dynamics and vaporization. However, computations with a fine mesh require extensive computer time. This study developed a methodology that uses a locally refined mesh in the spray region. Such adaptive mesh refinement will en...

Finite Element Approximation of the Acoustic Wave Equation: Error Control and Mesh Adaptation

We present an approach to solving the acoustic wave equation by adaptive finite element methods. Using a global duality argument and Galerkin orthogonality, we obtain a residual-based error representation with respect to an arbitrary functional of the solution. This results in numerically evaluatable error estimates which are used for mesh refinement. In this way, very economical and highly loc...

Fast Finite Element Method Using Multi-Step Mesh Process

This paper introduces a new method for accelerating current sluggish FEM and improving memory demand in FEM problems with high node resolution or bulky structures. Like most of the numerical methods, FEM results to a matrix equation which normally has huge dimension. Breaking the main matrix equation into several smaller size matrices, the solving procedure can be accelerated. For implementing ...

New adaptive interpolation schemes for efficient meshbased motion estimation

Motion estimation and compensation is an essential part of existing video coding systems. The mesh-based motion estimation (MME) produces smoother motion field, better subjective quality (free from blocking artifacts), and higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in many cases, especially at low bitrate video communications, compared to the conventional block matching algorithm (BMA). Howev...
